The Apprentice Electrician is a dynamic role allowing the individual to gain exposure to a range of areas Electricians encounter in the workforce.  The role requires both indoor and outdoor work requiring developed problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Programming of devices and computers are also tasks that is undertake frequently. The Apprentice will be required to provide support to deliver Council wide services.  Including installations of electrical systems, including wiring, lighting and fixtures in commercial and industrial settings.  Assist in the testing of electrical systems and components to ensure proper installation functionality.  The successful candidate will assist in maintaining Council's Water & Wastewater collections and distribution pump stations, maintaining electrical components of Council's Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants and monitoring network (telemetry) of water and wastewater systems.

The Apprentice Electrician is full-time employment for four (4) years, with the proposed study being a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.

  • The ability to follow direction and procedures, while showing initiative
  • Hold a current minimum P1 manual driver’s license
  • Either hold or be working towards a White Card
  • Intermediate to advanced mathematical skills
  • High level of computer competency (Training will be delivered online through Microsoft Office Teams with TAFE NSW. Therefore, applicants must have a high level of computer competency to carry out this traineeship.)

Position Details 

4-year Apprenticeship.
Successful candidate will need to commence employment and training by February 2026.
7am to 4pm (during summer 6:30am to 3:30pm),
38 Hour week with RDO every fortnight.
Employment conditions are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
