About the Opportunity
Are you passionate about live performance, events, and all things backstage? Cowra Council is offering an exciting Traineeship opportunity at the Civic Centre for a motivated individual looking to launch a career in lighting and technical production.
As a Trainee – Lighting & Technical Assistant, you will work closely with experienced events staff to support the technical needs of theatre productions, concerts, community events, and civic functions. As part of the traineeship, you will:
- Assist with the setup, operation and maintenance of lighting, audio, and staging equipment
- Support technical rehearsals and live event delivery
- Learn to troubleshoot and maintain equipment and cabling
- Follow safe work procedures and venue protocols

The Traineeship is full-time employment for three (3) years, with the proposed study being a Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Enthusiastic about the performing arts and live events
- Keen to work hands-on with lighting, sound and staging equipment
- A strong communicator who enjoys working in a team
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Committed to completing the full traineeship and training program
- Physically fit, safety conscious and strong ability to problem solve
To be considered for this role, you will have;
- A willingness to contribute toward the success of the team
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to health, safety and environmental work practices
- The ability to follow direction and procedures, while showing initiative
- Hold a current minimum P1 manual driver’s licence
- High level of computer competency (Training will be delivered online through Microsoft Office Teams with TAFE NSW. Therefore applicants must have a high level of computer competency to carry out this traineeship.)
